Scarf = silk + merino wool
Merino wool is soft and fine, and different from other wool. This merino wool is not scratchy or itchy. My customers and I, who ordinarilly do not like to wear wool garments next to our skin, are amazed with the comfort of wearing a scarf made of silk and merino wool.
The last photograph shows the scarf folded in half.
Agua & Teal: Large Nuno-felted Scarf
Duncan Designs loves shopping in the Garment District of NYC to buy silk to create colorful scarves from our buying trips. This 81” x 22.5” hand-felted “Agua and Teal” wool large scarf is a compliment to many outfits due to its beautiful large color palette. ! This scarf was cut on the bias and may be worn multiples ways; experiment and find out what works for you. Its shape is like a parallelogram.
This nuno-felted scarf was made by combining the silk with merino wool roving and bits of yarn, and soap & water. Then it was rolled 600 times, fulled (dropped to get the wool to go through the silk using hot water) and finally felted. To refresh: handwash with mild soap, air dry, and then lightly steam by holding the iron above the silk and wool to soften it. Enjoy wearing this special, unique scarf!
