Scarf = silk + merino wool

Merino wool is soft and fine, and different from other wool. This merino wool  is not scratchy or itchy. My customers and I, who ordinarilly do not like to wear wool garments next to our skin, are amazed with the comfort of wearing a scarf made of silk and merino wool.

The last photograph shows the scarf folded in half.

Red with Silver: Nuno-felted Scarf

  • Duncan Designs loves shopping in the Garment District of NYC to buy silk chiffon to create these colorful scarves from our buying trips. This 11” x 80” hand-felted “Red with Silver” scarf is a festive compliment to any outfit: casual to business. Each scarf may be worn multiples ways; experiment and find out what works for you.

This nuno-felted scarf was made by combining the silk with merino wool roving, and soap & water. Then it was rolled 600 times, fulled (dropped to get the wool to go through the silk using hot water) and finally felted. The nuno-felted process causes the edges to undulate and the width will vary slightly in width and length. To refresh your scarf: handwash with mild soap, air dry, and then lightly steam by holding the iron above the silk and wool to soften it. Enjoy wearing this special, unique scarf!
